The Path To Finding Better Resources

The 2018 Masters: Everything You Need To Know

Golf enthusiasts around the world have been waiting for the 2018 Masters. Competitive golf has been widely known for the excitement it gives to everyone.

This competition is divided in parts and the first one is for the competing players. The first part focuses on briefing the golfers and lets them decide whether they are ready for competing. The next part focuses on game preparations such as the game rules, training and putting up of gears. The third part is the nerve-racking part where the contenders ease their pressure for the competition.

Golf is a game where the golfers face a tough challenge of finding the right gear that could let them score. Unlike most games, golf does not need a standardized court. Every golf course is different from each other when it comes to the design. So long as the course contains 9 to 18 holes, it is all set for golfing. Yet there are rules and regulations set for each game.

In every game, the number of strokes each golfer makes is very important. Every golfer has his own strokes when playing. Golfers edge over the other by scoring in each whole ahead of each other and the match play scoring system is used in each game.

Originated in 12th century Scotland, this game was just a pastime to shepherds who compete with each other in kicking stones into rabbit holes. This goal is still used in golfing these days and the only difference is that golfers use clubs instead of just kicking the ball.

Over the years, golfing has evolved from being just a simple pastime to a more serious competition. These include the following:

Medal play or stroke play

This type of golfing is the most common one as it is used in most tournaments. In medal play, each of the golfers are to complete scoring 18 holes with the least number of strokes.

Match plays

In this type of golf competition, golfers play in teams with the same objective and the team that gets the most number of holes wins. This type is usually played in golf clubs and players in a match play follows a strict set of rules and regulations.

Scramble Competition

In this type of golfing, each player scores the balls in a hole and it will be decided which among the shots is the best one. Then the other players copy the same strokes until the game ends. Most golfers play this game for its simple mechanics.

Skin Competition

In this type of golf competition, a ‘skin’ which is a bag of money is placed in each hole and the players that hit the hole gets the skin and each of them compete to score first than the rest. The bag of money is called the ‘skin’ because the bag is literally made of skin.

The flag

The mechanics is this type of competition is quite simple, first, the players must allot a number of strokes which they are only allowed to use all throughout the game and when they are actually playing, all they need to do is score as much holes as they can using the number of strokes fixed.

There are many more types of golf competition and in the 2018 Masters Review, these competitions will be played by golfing enthusiasts such as Iain Sharpe and other famous ones from around the world.
